Site General Manager

There could not be a better time to join the Biggleswade Operations team as we have recently invested in a state-of-the art Bar plant which has increased our capacity, capability and flexibility and the Cereals plant has also had significant investment. JDR is expanding into a number of strategic markets which the Biggleswade site operations will play a key part. As site GM your key objective is to provide great leadership, ensuring the site has a clear focus on people development, continuous improvement, safety and food safety, alongside operational performance. You will provide strong leadership to the Biggleswade site and have substantial influence over the wider Cereals business, shaping, driving and delivering the strategic objectives, improving commercial, financial and operational performance for the total Cereals business in the UK and Internationally. Key accountabilities

• Maintaining as a minimum and continually improving the safety, food safety and plant performance across the site
• Driving a culture of continuous improvement with a well-established team
• Thinking broadly beyond Operations. Commercially astute and ability to lead the business on its 2 – 5 year strategy whilst delivering the 1-2 year delivery plan
• Change agent – ability to change a people culture and improve engagement year on year
• Ability to network across ABF and leverage the network to support the business goals
• Driving a culture of cost control and cost risk together with a high performing culture
• Driving change with the teams to establish a culture of high performance across the balanced scorecard
• Expert knowledge on operations and coaching the teams to perform at their best
• Managing change and making sure a seamless transition to anything new- product, recipe, standards, processes and projects
• Driving root cause analysis to reduce the non-conformance and incidents within operations so that performance is continuously improving

Experience and Skills

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification ideally in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management or Food Science (essential)
• Significant  management experience (essential)
• Food manufacturing experience – ideally in bakery sector (essential)
• Thorough understanding and working knowledge of safety, food safety and employee legislation (essential)
• Process Development experience (desirable)
• Experience and qualified in Lean Manufacturing techniques or Continuous Improvement techniques (Essential)
• NEBOSH +
• HACCP Level 3 +
• Advanced Food Safety
• Executive level leadership
• Knowledge and experience in working with Allergens, Vendor Assurance, Risk Management, CI programme, Environmental Programme Management, Capital Programme Management, Process Contaminants, Organic Management and working knowledge of British Retail Consortium standards, Non-GMO and IFS (Essential)
