Engineering Support Manager – Plant Integrity & CI

The Engineering Support Manager is fundamental in supporting safety, productivity improvement and loss elimination initiatives

Key accountabilities

  • Support the Maintenance & Reliability Manager to implement and manage the site maintenance plan and compliance strategy (through ownership of the Agility PPM system);
  • Contractor management (Safe Contractor champion);
  • Development and execution of TPM (total productive maintenance);
  • 100% statutory compliance (to include scheduling, coordination and prompt rectification of defects);
  • Support and deliver CI initiatives whilst working closely with cross functional teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Proactively promote a positive Health & Safety culture, leading towards a target of zero harm for JDR personnel and contractors;
  • Member of the Engineering Management team responsible for engineering performance, working closely with Production Shift Managers and cross functional teams across the site;
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement always looking to reduce costs, drive quality within a zero-harm environment;
  • Management of contractors across the estate from an Engineering perspective;
  • Management and coordination of central service contracts (to include OEM and statutory compliance) in liaison with the Stores Team;
  • Site Services – water (duty holder for Legionella), gas and compressed air (duty holder for PSSR)
  • Duty holder for site LEV systems;
  • Responsibility for the reliability and maintenance of the Mill, Warehouse (high track system, automated palletising) and Dorset Cereals (muesli, granola);
  • Line management of Mill Technician, DC shift Technicians and Engineering Apprentices (x3) – through the coordination and day-to-day management of work completion;
  • Ensure that the skills and competencies of the support team are constantly developed;
  • Expanding the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles and drive continuous improvement including the responsibility for supporting Autonomous Maintenance (AM) / Focused Improvement (FI) / Planned Maintenance (PM) / Early Management (EM);
  • Work with the Maintenance & Reliability Manager to ensure 100% audit readiness, 100% of the time;
  • Participate in development of strategies and in guidance of the operations to achieve proposed business True Efficiency (TE) & Running Efficiency (RE) objectives through loss elimination, technical capability building and job efficiency and involvement;
  • Ensure that all changes to plant and equipment are co-ordinated through Management of Change;
  • Actively participate in the JDR energy reduction commitment looking for ways to reduce energy consumption;
  • Awareness of effective management and control of all maintenance revenue spend, forecasting expenditure and carrying out regular reviews of actual spends vs. allocated budgets;
  • Engage with Capital projects on site;
  • Deliver and promote Engineering best practice, actively participate in contingency planning and risk identification, management, mitigation or removal.

Experience and Skills

  • A seasoned professional with plenty of manufacturing experience
  • Qualified to a nationally recognised standard in their chosen field
  • 10 years post qualification industry experience
  • Degree Qualified - Desirable
  • Member of a National  Engineering Body - Desirable
